Earlier this year Graphicstudio was invited to attend and participate in the American Printmaking Now exhibition, organized by the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. It was an incredible honor to be invited. We sent our Director, Margaret Miller, and two of our printers (Tim Baker and Tom Pruitt) to represent Graphicstudio.

What did We Do at the American Printmaking Now Exhibition?
We sent several Graphicstudio prints to be included in the exhibition. We also spent several days in Beijing where we attended opening events and participated in a symposium on publishing prints at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Graphicstudio’s printers, Tim Baker and Tom Pruitt, also led a series of workshops on photogravure and heliorelief – two innovative techniques employed by Graphicstudio.

What is the American Printmaking Now Exhibition?
American Printmaking Now, explores the development and innovations in American printmaking over the past 30 years as illustrated by over ninety prints produced by eight leading American print publishers including: USF Graphicstudio, Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE), Harlan & Weaver, Inc., The Leroy Neiman Center for Print Studies, Columbia University School of the Arts, Pace Prints, Gemini G.E.L., Tandem Press and the Institute for Electronic Arts, Alfred University. The exhibition is scheduled to tour three other museums in China: GuanShanYue Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, and the Shanghai Art Museum.

Future Collaborations
In the fall of 2011, Graphicstudio will invite one Chinese artist to Tampa to work in residence. There are many opportunities for future engagement in China and we look forward to exchanges and partnerships that will enrich the cultural experience of USF students and faculty as well as our friends and supporters in the Tampa Bay community.

Thank You to Our Supporters!
Thanks to all of you who support Graphicstudio and the USF Contemporary Art Museum. We could not produce internationally recognized exhibitions and editions without your support!
